Emergency First Aid at Work [EFAW] (1 Day)
On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to:
understand the role of the first-aider, including reference to:
the importance of preventing cross infection;
the need for recording incidents and actions;
use of available equipment;
assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and
effectively in an emergency;
administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure);
administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation;
administer first aid to a casualty who is choking;
administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding;
administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock;
provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)
Delivery TimeMinimum 8 Hours contact time.
This course will involve practical and written assessment of skills prior to certificationPrevious ExperienceNo prior experience required.
First Aid at Work [FAW] (3 Days)
In addition to all of the content listed for the EFAW course, successful candidates should be able to:
understand the role of the first-aider, including reference to:
the importance of preventing cross infection;
administer first aid to a casualty with:
injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries;
chest injuries;
burns and scalds;
eye injuries;
sudden poisoning;
anaphylactic shock;
recognise the presence of major illness including:
heart attack;
stroke;
epilepsy;
asthma;
diabetes;
and provide appropriate first aid.
Delivery TimeMinimum 24 Hours contact time across 3 days.
This course will involve practical and written assessment of skills prior to certificationPrevious ExperienceNo prior experience required.
Annual Refresher Training (4/6 Hours)
Successful candidates should be able to:
Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency.
Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure).
Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding.
Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock.
Delivery TimeMinimum 4 Hours contact time (without AED training) or 6 Hours (with AED Training).
Previous ExperienceDelegates must hold an in-date EFAW or FAW certificate to participate in this training.
FAW Re-qualification (2 Days)
Successful candidates will meet the criteria set out in the FAW (3 Day) course.
Delivery Time
Minimum 16 Hours contact time across 2 days.
Previous Experience
Delegates must hold an in-date FAW certificate (or one that expired within the last month) to participate in this training.
